LibQual+ (TM) Survey

The UNH Library is scheduled to take part in the LibQual+ (TM) survey instrument later this spring. The Library last participated in this nationwide survey in 2004, but we believe it is time for us to once again solicit users' opinions in our ongoing efforts to improve library service here at UNH. We are tentatively scheduled to administer the survey between April 6th and May 1st, 2009.

To members of the UNH PAT Council:

The UNH Library is scheduled to take part in the LibQual+ (TM) survey instrument later this spring. The Library last participated in this nationwide survey in 2004, but we believe it is time for us to once again solicit users' opinions in our ongoing efforts to improve library service here at UNH. We are tentatively scheduled to administer the survey between April 6th and May 1st, 2009.

LibQual+ (TM) has been used by over 1000 libraries, generating over 1,000,000 responses from library users. It is a web-based survey and most of the questions are uniform from one institution to the next. This enables us to compare and assess our results with those generated nationwide. There is also room for open-ended comments, which is extremely important in critically examining specific services or areas of concern. For more information about LibQual+ (TM) see:
LibQual+ http://www.libqual.org/

We are permitted to select five questions related to issues or services of local interest. Because we have such limited room to include our own questions, we want to make sure that members of the University community have a hand in crafting questions that address what they consider most important. For that reason, we want your suggestions regarding the kinds of questions that YOU feel should be asked. Some of your questions may be duplicated in the standard part of the survey; but if not, they will become candidates for inclusion in our "final five."

Please take the time to consider the issues that you believe should be addressed. Our aim is to use the results of this survey to enhance services for members of the University community and beyond, so please make your thoughts known, both now and when the survey is administered later this spring.

If you have suggestions for questions, or want to learn more about our use of LibQual+ (TM), please feel free to e-mail co-chairs Bill Ross or Annie Donahue at bill.ross@unh.edu or annie.donahue@unh.edu, respectively. Please let us hear back from you by Thursday, February 26, 2009.

We thank you in advance for your consideration and involvement.

Bill Ross and Annie Donahue
